HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO FINISH MY DECK?

WHAT IS DEKit?

DEKit is an anti-slip, PE/EVA closed cell foam deck tread offering a hard wearing, easy to maintain traction in wet areas, improving your comfort and safety. Easy to clean and stain resistant, DEKit provides protection, sound dampening, and durability for boat surfaces, especially in high traffic areas.

WHERE WILL DEKit STICK?

DEKit can be applied over existing non-skid. All DEKit foams come formulated with a 3M™ acrylic based high-bond pressure sensitive adhesive, designed for application to most non-skid, non-slip, gelcoat, Awlgrip, and painted/metal surfaces.

DOES DEKit COME WITH A WARRANTY?

Yes, all DEKit foam comes with a 4 year warranty. This certifies your product is free from defects in workmanship and materials at the time of installation. The pressure sensitive adhesive can not be warrantied due to variations in application surfaces. DEKit foam has an operational temperature of 176ºF and subsequently, the warranty does not cover damage to the foam due to light amplification from reflective surfaces or refraction of sunlight through light-transmissive surfaces. DEKit Marine stands behind its product and should any issues arise, we will do everything to see that the problem is resolved quickly and effectively.

HOW DO I CLEAN DEKit?

  • To clean general dirt, footprints, etc. use an all-purpose cleaner(Dawn, Simple Green, 409), warm water, and a medium bristled deck brush. (Note: If removing suntan lotion, use all purpose cleaner alone with a medium bristled deck brush).
  • To remove fish blood, use 1 cup of bleach to 1 gallon of warm water, and a soft-bristled deck brush.
  • During cleaning, please ensure all solvents avoid the adhesive as best as possible. Avoid using mineral spirits, acetone, and Mary Kate's On/Off as a cleaning agent, as it can compromise the integrity of the adhesive.

WILL DEKit STAIN?

**For best results, tend to all stains, spills, and leaks as soon as possible**. Some materials such as fish hooks left to rust, fish blood, bird droppings, and mustard can stain the decking if not promptly removed.

WHAT IS THE LONGEVITY OF DEKit?

With proper installation and care, DEKit can be expected to last 5-7 years. For increased longevity, it is recommended that the boat be covered or stored out of the elements. Reducing long term exposure to the sun, when not in use, will help extend the life of your decking and reduce color fade.​

DOES DEKit GET HOT?

DEKit is designed to allow use even on the most sun-filled days and not reach temperatures seen by traditional fiberglass and aluminum decks. Due to its closed cell structure, DEKit is inherently designed to dissipate heat, giving users hours of comfortable, barefoot use.
